Job description

About Junior Library Guild (JLG)
Junior Library Guild (JLG) helps schools and libraries across the country connect young readers with high-quality books that inspire lifelong reading. With nearly 100 years of experience, librarians trust JLG’s curated collections to build engaging, diverse collections for their communities.

About the Role

We are primarily growing our Inside Sales team in Columbus, OH, but we are opening a remote opportunity for proven sales professionals with highly relevant K–12, library, EdTech, curriculum, publishing, or education sales experience.

This is not an entry-level remote sales role. It is designed for candidates who have already succeeded in a quota-carrying outbound sales environment and can independently manage activity, pipeline, follow-up, and results.

What You’ll Do

  • Prospect and develop new customer relationships with schools and libraries
  • Manage and grow an active pipeline of sales opportunities
  • Execute consistent outbound call and email outreach
  • Drive renewals and identify opportunities for expansion within existing accounts
  • Conduct consultative sales conversations and recommend subscription solutions
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, next steps, and follow-up activity
  • Work independently while staying aligned with team goals and expectations
  • Participate in coaching, training, and performance reviews

What We’re Looking For (Required)

  • 2+ years of quota-carrying inside sales experience in an outbound environment
  • Experience selling into K–12 schools, districts, libraries, EdTech, curriculum, publishing, or a closely related education market
  • Direct school library sales experience strongly preferred
  • Proven success prospecting, managing a pipeline, and closing business
  • Strong call discipline and comfort with consistent outbound activity
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting clear performance expectations
  • CRM discipline, including accurate records, next steps, pipeline management, and follow-up activity
  • Highly organized, coachable, competitive, resilient, and results-driven

This Role Is Not a Fit If

  • You are looking for your first sales role
  • Your experience is primarily retail, hospitality, customer service, or account support without outbound prospecting responsibility
  • You have not carried a quota or been accountable for measurable sales results
  • You are uncomfortable with high-volume outbound calls, rejection, coaching, or CRM accountability
  • You are looking for a remote role that requires minimal structure or oversight

Schedule (Remote)

  • Flexible within business hours: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM EST
  • 8-hour workday required
  • Schedule should support outreach across multiple U.S. time zones

Why Join JLG?

  • Mission-driven work supporting literacy and education
  • Established, nearly 100-year-old brand with a strong, loyal customer base
  • Uncapped earning potential for high performers
  • Performance-focused culture with clear expectations and metrics
  • Ongoing coaching, training, and development
  • Opportunity to grow into senior sales or leadership roles

Growth & Career Development

We prioritize internal growth. Many members of our leadership team started in frontline sales roles and advanced through consistent performance and development.

You’ll receive regular coaching, feedback, and skill development to strengthen your consultative sales approach and support long-term growth.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $48,000 base salary plus uncapped commission and bonus opportunities. On-target earnings are approximately $100,000 annually, with top performers regularly exceeding $150,000.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Healthcare and dependent care FSAs
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • 401(k) with company match (vests after three months)
  • Employee discounts
  • Sales contests, incentives, and recognition programs
