JOB SUMMARY (the purpose and general nature of the job):

The Quality Engineer I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting and maintaining quality processes to ensure manufactured products meet company and customer standards. This position provides hands-on experience in quality engineering tools, problem-solving, and manufacturing quality systems.


The Quality Engineer I is an entry-level professional engineering role responsible for supporting, maintaining, and applying quality engineering principles to evaluate manufacturing processes, analyze quality data, and support resolution of product and process issues to ensure compliance with company and customer requirements. This position exercises judgment in identifying quality concerns, recommending corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment.



PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following:


  • Assist in monitoring product and process quality throughout production.
  • Participate in evaluation of inspection results, testing data, and process trends to identify quality issues and recommend appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Investigate product and process quality issues using structured problem-solving methods and participate in root cause analysis, while under guidance.
  • Partner with the team in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities by analyzing findings, assisting with action plans, and verifying effectiveness of implemented solutions.
  • Maintain quality documentation, records, and reports.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to support process improvements, resolve quality concerns, and maintain compliance with quality standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs.
  • Participate in gage management activities, including calibration tracking, basic measurement checks, and ensuring gaging is properly maintained and available for use.




KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, engineering, or related environment.
  • Strong interest in quality systems, problem‑solving, and process improvement.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and measurement tools.
  • Good communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to learn quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, 8D, and root cause analysis.
  • Coursework, academic projects, or other relevant experience related to manufacturing or quality; internship or co-op in manufacturing or quality (preferred).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar standards (preferred)
  • Exposure to statistical analysis or data tools (Excel, Minitab, etc.) (preferred).


PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:


  • Work schedule generally consists of 40 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends.
  • Ability to lift/maneuver 20 pounds.
  • Combination of office and manufacturing floor environments.
  • Regular interaction with production personnel, quality systems, and manufacturing processes.
  • Occasional hands‑on work with materials, equipment, or testing tools.
