Entry Level Network Administrator
Industry: Commercial Real Estate (CRE)
Reports to: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC (On-Site)

Position Brief:
The Entry-Level Network Administrator supports the day-to-day operations, security, and connectivity of our corporate offices, hotels, outdoor amphitheater, and managed property portfolio. This role ensures that our "Smart Building" infrastructure-including IoT sensors, tenant Wi-Fi, and security systems-remains online, secure, and supports Northwood's strategic and tactical goals. This role blends traditional IT support with modern PropTech infrastructure management. This is an in office position. The company may occasionally require travel at its expense.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Effective and timely communication of expectations and options to technical requests from end users in accordance with company IT policies and procedures
  • Network Maintenance: Monitor LAN/WAN performance across multiple properties; troubleshoot connectivity issues for corporate staff and building tenants. Manage and maintain core network equipment, including config backups and hardware replacement as necessary
  • Smart Building Support: Assist in the configuration and maintenance of IoT devices (HVAC sensors, automated lighting, and digital access controls)
  • Security & Compliance: Execute basic firewall changes, manage VPN access for remote property managers, and assist in regular cybersecurity audits
  • Hardware Deployment: Install and rack switches, routers, and Wireless Access Points (WAPs) in on-site MDF/IDF rooms
  • Complete assigned support desk tickets
  • Documentation and training: Maintain up-to-date network and application information for both internal (technical) team reference, as well external (end user) materials for onboarding and training. Execute on end-user trainings either in person on via Teams virtual meetings
  • Coordinate with ISPs and PropTech vendors to resolve outages, configuration changes, upgrades/updates and hardware failures

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:
  • Fundamental understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs
    • Familiarity with Wi-Fi 6/7 standards and mesh networking.
    • Basic knowledge of cloud networking (AWS/Azure) as it relates to property data storage
  • Approach each interaction with a strong customer service mindset, ensuring every stakeholder feels valued and understands options available to them
  • Ability to work in a team and independently as needed
  • Be ready and willing to pitch in with extended hours or weekends when needed; you'll have our full support as you help us meet important deadlines or respond to emergencies
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
    • Certifications: CompTIA Network+ or CCNA
    • Windows Server Administration

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • This role will also participate in a 2-week rotation of being on-call for system emergencies (via forwarded dedicated IT emergency line) with three other members (with flexibility to trade shifts with other members)
  • Frequently lift and/or move equipment ranging from 20 to 35 pounds. Occasionally lift or pull heavier items, such as servers or UPS units, ranging from 35 to 80 pounds.
  • Maintain sufficient mobility to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods, and to maneuver in tight spaces such as server rooms or under desks.
  • Regularly bend, stoop, crouch, squat, climb, or kneel while installing or troubleshooting hardware.
