Mead & Hunt is currently looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Transportation team as an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer in Columbia, MD; Herndon VA; Washington, DC.
Responsibilities include:
  • Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections
  • Roadway Design Modeling using Bentley Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Prepare plans, exhibits, cost estimates and specifications
  • Identify and apply or use the standards, guidelines and principals in the AASHTO Green Book, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Highway Safety Manual, and other local and national standards
  • Assist in the analysis, preparation, or modification of reports, calculations, studies, permits, and designs for projects
  • Attend client meetings and assist in client contact and communications
  • Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection

A valid driver's license and some travel will be required.
The successful candidate will have:
  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering or relevant field from an accredited college or university.

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:
  • Transportation design coursework/ internship
  • MicroStation or AutoCAD
  • EI or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Experience using MS-Word, Excel, Project
