Job description

Red Hat will not be providing visa sponsorship for this position. Therefore, in order to be considered for this position, you must have the ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Job Summary

The Red Hat Products Organization is looking for a motivated, early-career Product Manager to join the Ansible Automation Platform team in Raleigh. In this role, you will help design, develop, and manage activities across the full product lifecycle - from product definition and planning through development, release, and end of life. You will serve as a central resource connecting engineering, quality, marketing, and go-to-market functions as Ansible Automation Platform evolves through new releases, modifications, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance. You will learn to translate customer needs into product outcomes while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the product's success at every stage.

You'll join a culture where diverse perspectives drive better decisions, the best ideas win regardless of where they come from, and people are empowered to take thoughtful risks. Freedom and courage are core Red Hat values: you'll be encouraged to explore the unknown, develop your strengths, and stick with hard problems until they're solved.

What you will do:

  • Gather and synthesize input from users, customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to identify needs, pain points, and opportunities for Ansible Automation Platform.

  • Leverage AI-assisted research and analysis tools to conduct competitive intelligence - documenting the strengths, weaknesses, and positioning of alternative solutions.

  • Author and prioritize requirements, epics, and user stories for upcoming releases, using data and customer evidence to justify decisions.

  • Collaborate with engineering, UX, and other cross-functional partners to design and deliver product capabilities that solve real business problems.

  • Use AI tools (e.g., large language models, copilots, automation) to accelerate routine product management workflows such as drafting documentation, summarizing customer feedback, analyzing usage data, and generating stakeholder communications.

  • Coordinate with peer product managers to ensure alignment, reduce duplication, and maintain a consistent experience across the Ansible portfolio.

  • Contribute to go-to-market activities including release messaging, enablement content, and customer-facing communications.

What you will bring:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex technical concepts for varied audiences.

  • Demonstrated curiosity and a bias toward learning - comfort picking up new tools, technologies, and domains quickly.

  • Foundational understanding of the software product development lifecycle (Agile, Scrum, or similar methodologies).

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data (quantitative and qualitative) to support product decisions.

  • Customer-focused approach - genuine interest in understanding user problems before jumping to solutions.

  • Familiarity or willingness to develop proficiency with AI and machine-learning-assisted tools to enhance productivity, research, and decision-making.

  • Effective collaboration skills and comfort working as part of a distributed, cross-functional team.

  • Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to Linux, cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, or IT automation concepts.

  • Familiarity with Ansible or other configuration management / automation tools.

  • Experience using AI coding assistants, prompt engineering, or other generative AI tools in academic or project work.

  • Contributions to open-source projects, hackathons, or technical communities.

The salary range for this position is $76,830.00 - $122,890.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
