Job description


In the Engineer I role, you'll perform entry-level product design, engineering and documentation, for new and current product of our crawler crane product line. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Engineering, this position is located in Manitowoc, WI, on the shores of Lake Michigan.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assignments may involve new product design, product improvements, test analysis, production liaison and service liaison utilizing a variety of engineering disciplines.
  • Resolve design issues identified by manufacturing, test, customer and warranty feedback.
  • Utilize CAD software to design components and systems to implement solutions.
  • Prepare concept sketches, layouts, models, drawings, and specification documents as required.
  • Work with Senior Engineers to complete design reviews, FEA analysis, FMEA analysis, cost reduction and system optimization efforts.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of component and system test and/or validation.
  • Prepare reports on basic analysis, test, performance, schedule and cost information as required.
  • Assist other departments in preparation of manuals and sales literature on assigned projects.
  • Maintain close contact and coordinate activities with other groups within the Product Engineering department.
  • Communicate with management, team members, and production staff across a variety of media.
  • Ability to perform job functions in a safe manner and complete all safety training required.
  • Must wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required for the job being performed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • Experience with 3D Engineering software required; preferably Creo.
  • General knowledge of mechanical systems and engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel required.
  • Experience with construction, agricultural or heavy equipment, and/ or hands on mechanical experience preferred.
  • This position will be located in a normal office environment with exposure to the manufacturing shop floor and product test environments as required.
  • Travel required up to 10% of the time.
