POSITION SUMMARY:

The Field Operator is responsible for ensuring safety and operational excellence. They diagnose and repair equipment issues and collaborate on asset project planning maintenance, across AMP client sites. Responsibilities include troubleshooting gas processing issues, verifying grounding grid layouts, and performing routine maintenance on Medium Voltage and Generation Reciprocating and Turbine equipment. The role involves effective communication of maintenance details, compliance verification during site visits, strict adherence to safety codes and standards, oversight over power distribution while prioritizing safety and AMP guideline adherence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may.")

  • Engages actively in company safety initiatives, encompassing daily programs such as written documentation, observations, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), etc. Adheres strictly to policies and procedures to safeguard the wellbeing of all employees and promote operational excellence.
  • Diagnoses issues and executes essential repairs on malfunctioning equipment.
  • Collaborates in the planning of electrical projects as well as generation reciprocating and turbine equipment on third party vendor sites.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots Medium Voltage (MV) motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and processing gear.
  • Manages the operation of natural gas processing equipment across all AMP client sites.
  • Handles troubleshooting calls pertaining to all equipment issues.
  • Verifies the proper layout and testing of the grounding grid, encompassing all AMP equipment and Third-Party Equipment on-site that receives power from AMP.
  • Conducts, documents, and contributes to site visits to ensure compliance with AMP processing standards for all AMP site specific equipment.
  • Reports and implements necessary corrective actions to address operational issues related to all AMP site specific equipment.
  • Assists in mobilizing and demobilizing packages and related equipment.
  • Recertifies and commissions all digital instrumentation associated with all AMP site specific equipment.
  • Recertifies and commissions all flow measurement devices in accordance with AMP standards.
  • Undertakes entry-level PLC modifications to enhance the performance of all AMP site specific equipment.
  • Performs tasks in strict adherence to safety rules, standard operating procedures, and workplace instructions. Follows all relevant OEM Manufacturer, OSHA, MSHA, and NEC codes to conduct repairs, preventive maintenance, and operation of all electrical equipment.
  • Takes responsibility for communicating details of job maintenance and performed repairs to the Supervisor or other designated individuals.
  • Initiates the procurement of electrical components, supplies, and tools, while identifying critical spare parts necessary for the safe and efficient functioning of equipment.
  • Executes routine maintenance on Medium Voltage (MV) Switch Gear, MV Circuit Breakers, Transformers, and all related equipment. Monitors and troubleshoots Branch Feeder Circuit Protection Relays for optimal functionality.
  • Delivers comprehensive written and observational pre-job and post-job analyses.
  • Conducts routine maintenance and testing of all Medium Voltage (MV) cables before each frac operation. Ensures the ongoing condition of electrical devices, equipment, and cables is maintained.
  • Responsible for Power Distribution to all equipment including but not limited to cable routing, designation, cable terminations, final inspection of entire system and approval prior to energizing any Medium Voltage Circuits
  • Operates and maintains AMP vehicles while strictly following all safety and operational rules and requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.ย 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre-employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).

  • Daily in-person, predictable attendance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4 years medium voltage electrical experience and/or:
  • 2 years of experience with diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches
  • 24 months of previous oilfield experience
  • Detailed knowledge of the following:
    • EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), DOT (Department of Transportation), RRC (Railroad Commission), OHSA (Occupational Safety and Health Association), NEC (National Electrical Code), AGA (American Gas Association), API (American Petroleum Institute) and GPA (Gas Processing Association)
  • MV experience.
  • Mechanical and electrical knowledge

Preferred:

  • Technical College Training
  • Associate degree in electrical technology or related field
  • Protection Relay Experience/ Certifications
  • Certified journeyman electrician/ Master Electrician
  • Gas Turbine or Aircraft Engine Services (A&P License)

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend intermediate English. ย 
  • Basic computer skills.ย 
  • Ability to read electrical/controls drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to operate testing equipment (Megger, Multimeter/Process Meter, Amp probe, High Pot, Test Unit, etc.)
  • Ability to attend, participate, and successfully complete the scheduled New Hire Safety training, including but not limited to H2S, Powered Industrial, and basic First Aid and CPR training.
  • Attends and successfully completes annual safety recertification training.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 12-hour shifts for fourteen consecutive days.
  • Ability to work within a team concept to successfully complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical systems issues.
  • Ability to take instruction well and interact with other employees in a positive manner within the framework of assigned work groups.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
  • Fully knowledgeable, compliant and takes initiative to promote and work with digital platforms including Active Learner, Paycom, KPA, and other company mandated systems. For new hires, ability to quickly learn company platforms.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.ย 
  • Capable of communicating in a technical manner with clients, addressing their specific needs and concerns.
  • Advanced knowledge regarding preventative, routine, intermediate and advanced maintenance in addition to the following systems: turbine generators, gas turbine engines, turbine engines, support systems, engine rooms, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air systems, PMS, auxiliary systems, steam turbine, fuel systems, electronic circuitry, and combustion turbines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Daily required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach and squat/kneel. Work environment includes exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio up to 85 dB and inclement weather, including typical and atypical outdoor elements and extreme cold and hot weather temperatures. Given these conditions, employees are required to wear company mandated and issued personal protective equipment (PPE) (fire retardant coveralls, safety hat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection and safety gloves, may require high voltage gloves or impact gloves) and must strictly adhere to all safety policies. Individuals are regularly required to lift heavy objects; therefore, they must be able to lift 49 lbs. independently and 50-100 lbs. with a team lift.
