Position Description & Qualifications Serco is seeking qualified Technical Writer / Task Group Instruction (TGI) Specialists to support the Piping/Mechanical Division (Code 260) within a U.S. Navy shipyard environment located in Bremerton. The selected candidates will provide technical planning and documentation support associated with submarine and surface ship maintenance availabilities, engineering work products, and execution planning. This effort supports development, review, maintenance, and execution of Technical Work Documents including Job Summaries (JSs), Component Unit Identifier (CUI) phases, Task Group Instructions (TGIs), Job Material Lists (JMLs), and associated deficiency documentation. In this role you will: * Review Authorized Availability Work Packages (AWPs) to support maintenance planning and execution activities.
  • Develop, review, and edit:
  • Job Summaries (JSs)
  • Component Unit Identifier (CUI) phases
  • Task Group Instructions (TGIs)
  • Job Material Lists (JMLs)
  • Deficiency Forms (DFs), Deficiency Reports (DRs), and Deficiency Logs (DLs)
  • Support development and validation of Corporate Cost Estimates.
  • Determine required phases of work, labor hours, durations, material requirements, and trade-specific tasks necessary to execute authorized work.
  • Utilize shipyard software systems including:
  • Advanced Industrial Management (AIM)
  • Material Requirements (MRQT)
  • Automated Technical Information System (ATIS)
  • Deficiency Tracking System (DTR)
  • Joint Engineering Data Management Information and Control System (JEDMICS)
  • Review technical drawings, maintenance standards, shipyard procedures, and technical manuals to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with shipyard and Navy requirements including:
  • SUBSAFE
  • Level 1 Material Control
  • Scope of Certification (SOC)
  • Fly-By-Wire (FBW)
  • Deep Diving General Overhaul Specification (DDGOS)
  • Incorporate lessons learned, deficiency reports, and historical project information into TGIs and planning products.
  • Coordinate with engineering, planning, project management, and shipyard departments to support maintenance execution.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve planning and execution deficiencies as required.
To be successful in this role you will: * High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience utilizing the Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) system.
  • Ability to obtain a Active Secret Clearance required.
