Job description

ROLE SUMMARY: As a Design Assistant at BJU Press you will play a supporting role on the Art & Design team by assisting design teams with photo research, asset preparation, and other entry-level tasks. This role is focused on production support and organization, helping ensure that assets are accurate, consistent, and ready for use in products. The Design Assistant gains exposure to workflows and begins building skills in layout, file management, and design software through observation and hands-on practice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform photo research to meet design and project objectives
  • Prepare images for use in products
  • Organize digital assets using department file management conventions
  • Assist with simple formatting tasks in InDesign under the direction of design team members
  • Apply feedback to refine task accuracy, consistency, and turnaround time
  • Support design teams by completing assigned tasks with diligence and care
  • Observe and begin learning file prep, layout, and design workflows used across the team

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator preferred
  • Basic understanding of visual organization, file management, and formatting tools
