Job description

Major League Baseball is seeking a talented photographer to join our photo team for the 2026 season. This seasonal, part-time position will focus on photo coverage, editing, and other photography-related tasks to support a variety of MLB initiatives. Based out of our headquarters in Midtown Manhattan, the role offers an excellent opportunity to gain diverse, hands-on experience in a fast paced, high-profile environment.
Responsibilities
  • Photo Capture & Editing: Capture, edit, and caption photos for various MLB Initiatives and events, primarily focusing on in-office coverage. This may include event coverage, portraits/headshots, and studio product shots for internal groups and external partners. Occasional off-site assignments in the NYC area will also be required
  • Editing & Captioning: Assist the editing team with editing and captioning images from photographers on assignment in real time, as well as post assignment
  • Image Review & Management: Review images from completed assignments to ensure all assets are received and properly edited, captioned, and archived
  • Gallery Curation: Curate galleries using a variety of approved sources to fulfill photo requests
  • Photo Research: Assist with photo research projects, helping to source images and clear usage
  • Photo Desk Coverage: Provide support for night and weekend photo desk coverage as needed
  • Administrative Support: Assist with various administrative tasks to help organize, track, and keep department operations current

Qualifications & Skills
  • Possess strong photography and editing skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Have significant experience with on-camera flash and studio lighting
  • Be proficient in photo editing programs (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.)
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, while quickly adapting to changing priorities
  • Be detail-oriented and able to follow and receive instruction
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, a collaborative attitude, and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed
  • Always maintain professionalism
  • Familiarity with baseball, including general knowledge of the game and terminology, as well as experience with AP-style captioning is a plus
