Job description

Turner's Outdoorsman is seeking a Gun Desk Clerk I to join the compliance team. The Gun Desk Clerk I is responsible for supporting the daily administrative and compliance functions related to firearm transactions and regulatory documentation. This entry-level office position assists with recordkeeping, audit preparation, document review, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and company firearm regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review firearm transaction documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Process and maintain DROS records and compliance-related files
  • Assist with firearm audit preparation and record organization
  • Maintain secure and confidential firearm transaction records
  • Support compliance team with data entry, reporting, and administrative tasks
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies or missing documentation
  • Communicate professionally with store locations regarding compliance corrections
  • Ensure filing systems remain organized and audit-ready
  • Follow all ATF, California DOJ, and company compliance procedures
  • Assist with department projects and additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous administrative or office experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of firearm regulations preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry systems
  • Ability to manage confidential information professionally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be at least 21 years old

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to review documents and perform repetitive administrative tasks
