Job description

The Basics

Process Operator I is an entry-level role designed to introduce Team Members to the dynamic crush plant environment and learning to provide hands-on support to daily operations

 

Location: Cherryvale, KS

Compensation: $24/hr and up

Days/Hours: These operator will work a 12 hour shift in a ‘4 days on, 4 days off’ pattern. They will rotate between 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am every 2 months.

Equipment Used: Various equipment and machinery to move soybeans and extract and refine the oil

Material Handled: Bulk soybeans, soybean meal, soybean oil

What you’ll be doing:

The duties of this hands-on job will include cracking, heating and flaking soybeans to prepare it for extraction of the oil inside. Once the oil is extracted, it will be refined, depending on the intended end use of the product. This multi-step process will be done by operating state-of-the-art machinery. While many of these processes will be automated, each operator must be highly trained to monitor the process and make adjustments to ensure maximum yield.

 

Specific Job Duties:

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to a strong safety culture.
  • Housekeeping duties which include sampling, equipment greasing duties
  • Knowledgeable and compliant with all GMP standards
  • Complete Operations Trainings which include sampling standards
  • Operate and monitor equipment and control systems in designated areas such as preparation, refinery, extraction, and grain drying.
  • Conduct routine sampling, input data into computer systems, and monitor processing to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Complete training in all federal, state and local, food safety and health regulations
  • Inspect facility buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify issues, perform light maintenance, and complete minor repairs.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support continuous improvement and maintain a team-oriented work environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties assigned to support overall plant operation Process Operators will be cross trained to perform a variety of tasks.

Requirements to be successful in this position:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in a processing plant, refinery, mill, or elevator is preferred
  • Available to work off hours and weekends
  • For safety reasons, must be able to read, write, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
  • Professional demeanor (safety conscious, quality of job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communications)
  • Able to pass a criminal background check
