Responsibilities
Job Specific Details and Tasks: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Maintaining financial records, month-end journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
  • Process customer invoices and cash receipts (accounts receivable)
  • Process vender invoices and prepare vendor payments (accounts payable)
  • Oversee the payroll process and 401K plans
  • Work with external tax accountants in order to ensure compliance with local, state and federal tax requirements and with external accountants for 401K audits
  • Manage workload to ensure that all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely and that all overtime hours are verified with appropriate management prior to processing
  • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance, as well as accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (i.e. W-2, 1099, etc.)
  • Perform compliance for unclaimed property payroll checks
  • Develop financial and operational reporting as needed
  • Process manual checks
  • Upload appropriate 401K deferrals and company matching to 401K provider
  • Coordinate with multi-state agencies to request and/or maintain state IDs
  • Act as liaison for workers compensation audits
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Must have graduated with an Associate Degree in Accounting within the last 3 years; Bachelor's Degree desired
  • Experience: Must have 1-2 years of post-graduation experience in accounting or bookkeeping
  • Proficient in Excel and QuickBooks a plus
  • Government contracts accounting experience preferable
  • Must have strong technical and Excel skills
  • Experience working with ADP and Quickbooks preferred
  • Is detailed oriented and will maintain high professional standards and ethical conduct in all matters
  • Possess a deep understanding of numbers, rules, regulations and laws
