First Heritage Mortgage is seeking a driven and analytical Secondary Marketing Analyst to join our growing Capital Markets team. This is an ideal entry-level role for a recent graduate or early-career professional with a strong quantitative background who wants to build a career in mortgage hedging, trading, and loan sales.
In this role, you will support the Secondary Marketing team in executing daily hedging strategies, monitoring pipeline risk, facilitating loan sales to investors, and analyzing trade performance. You will gain hands-on experience with hedge modeling, best execution analysis, and secondary market operations while working closely with the PPE & Lock Desk team, Operations, and leadership.
This position offers excellent learning opportunities, direct mentorship, and strong potential for growth within a rapidly expanding Capital Markets function.
Hedging & Risk Management
• Support daily hedge positioning and pipeline risk monitoring.
• Assist in running hedge models, scenario analysis, and sensitivity testing.
• Track and report on hedge effectiveness, basis risk, and P&L attribution.
• Help maintain accurate hedge data and documentation.
Trading & Loan Sales
• Support the execution of loan sales and whole loan trading activities.
• Prepare bid sheets, trade packages, and investor delivery documentation.
• Monitor market pricing, investor appetite, and competitive trade execution.
• Assist with post-trade reconciliation and performance analysis.
Analytics & Reporting
• Build and maintain Excel-based reports, dashboards, and models to track pipeline, hedge positions, and secondary marketing performance.
• Perform data analysis on loan characteristics, pricing trends, fallout, and profitability.
• Support the development and refinement of hedge models and pricing tools.
• Prepare regular reports for management on hedge results, trade execution, and market conditions.
Process & Systems Support
• Work with internal systems (Encompass and others) to ensure accurate loan data flows to Secondary Marketing.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation and better data utilization (SQL experience is a plus).
• Collaborate with PPE & Lock Desk, Operations, and IT on system enhancements and data integrity initiatives.
Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner closely with the Lock Desk, PPE team, and Sales leadership to optimize pricing and hedging strategies.
• Contribute to special projects aimed at scaling and professionalizing the Secondary Marketing function.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, charts, and modeling) - required.
• Experience or coursework involving data analysis, financial modeling, or statistics is highly valued.
• Familiarity with SQL or other data querying tools is a plus (but not required).
• Basic understanding of fixed income, mortgages, or financial markets is preferred, but not required - we will provide training.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
