Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in criminal justice, public administration, emergency management, homeland security, information systems, communication, intelligence studies, or a related field.
- One (1) year of experience in public safety communications, law enforcement, military operations, emergency management, intelligence analysis, investigations, dispatch operations, crime analysis, security operations, or a closely related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications in accordance with Florida Statute 112.219.
Key Responsibilities:
The Case Operations & Risk Evaluation (CORE) Specialist serves as a central resource for information management, operational support, and risk assessment within the Campus Safety Department. This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information to support campus safety operations, emergency response, investigations, threat assessments, and strategic decision-making. The CORE Specialist maintains situational awareness, coordinates communications during routine and critical incidents, supports investigations and case management, and analyzes data to identify trends, risks, and emerging threats affecting the College community. Working in a fast-paced environment, the CORE Specialist must effectively prioritize competing demands, assess information from multiple sources, and deliver accurate, timely intelligence. Success in this role requires strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, excellent communication, sound judgment, and proficiency with technology, data systems, and investigative tools. The CORE Specialist maintains confidentiality, handles sensitive information with discretion, and collaborates with Campus Safety personnel, College departments, public safety agencies, and community partners to enhance campus safety, security, and emergency preparedness.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Monitor, evaluate, and relay emergency and non-emergency communications, and support public information efforts during emergency operations and critical incidents.
- Coordinate responses to incidents involving Campus Safety personnel and external emergency responders.
- Monitor emergency notification systems and assist in activation during critical incidents.
- Track personnel, resources, and incident status during emergency events.
- Maintain accurate communication logs and records
- Gather, analyze, and disseminate information relevant to campus safety and security operations.
- Identify and monitor potential threats to campus safety.
- Compile intelligence bulletins, briefing materials, and situational reports.
- Support behavioral threat assessment teams with information collection and analysis.
- Analyze incident trends, crime patterns, emerging threats, and security concerns to support operational planning and decision-making
- Assist Campus Safety personnel with investigations involving criminal activity, suspicious behavior, threats, and policy or procedural violations.
- Review and analyze digital evidence, open-source intelligence (OSINT), social media content, publicly available information, and other investigative resources to support investigations and threat assessments.
- Assist with evidence tracking and case management documentation and prepare investigative summaries and reports.
- Support Case Oversight and Risk Evaluation (CORE) unit functions.
- Monitor surveillance systems, access control systems, and other security technologies.
- Coordinate information sharing between Campus Safety, law enforcement agencies, and emergency management partners.
- Provide tactical intelligence and operational support during emergencies.
- Develop and maintain a common operating picture by integrating information from multiple sources during incidents and emergency events.
- Prepare incident, intelligence, and operational reports; maintain records and data systems supporting security operations.
- Compile and analyze crime, security, and operational data; assist with compliance reporting and security documentation.
- Assist with emergency operations center (EOC), planned events, severe weather incidents, and critical incidents as assigned.
- Participate in drills, exercises, and training activities.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

- Knowledge of and proficiency with a broad range of technology platforms and software systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, Records Management Systems (RMS), access control and video surveillance systems, mapping and situational awareness tools, social media monitoring platforms, database management systems, and emergency notification systems.
