Job description

In this role you will sell multimedia advertising for The Post and Courier, Myrtle Beach and Georgetown,  increase market share from established and new customers covering sales territory of new and existing accounts, through analysis of client sales needs, creates advertising campaigns; recommends ad layout and design; develops speculative advertising materials.

Responsibilities:

Meet/exceed Print/Online budget expectations through growing Recruitment Accounts

  • Knowledgeable of competitor's strengths, weaknesses and marketplace
  • Creative and artistic abilities needed for ad layout and design recommendations and for suggesting ad style, color, prints.
  • Writing and composing abilities needed for assistance in producing ad copy for print and online.
  • Person to person communications skills required in order to relate advertising ideas, contractual agreements and company policy to advertisers.
  • Must be able to create and deliver professional presentations to account base.
  • Advertising representative has an understanding of and knowledge of applicability of economic trends, marketing, and selling techniques.
  • Have understanding of digital recruitment solutions such as Monster, AppVault, AfterCollege Diversity, Total Talent Reach, as well as Postandcourier.com digital solutions. Digital must be included for each and every recruitment solution.
  • Must have a strong commitment to excellence, safety and customer service.
  • Is expected to produce quality work.

Meet the following sales activity and training expectations

  • Meet and/or exceed monthly print and digital sales goals.
  • Knowledge and proficiency at input of all advertising and correctly scheduling.
  • Ability to proof advertising through online proofing portal.
  • Must understand and be able to present company provided readership and research information.
  • Provide Recruitment Account intelligence regarding the current status of account list and economy.
  • Strong knowledge of newspaper advertising, online advertising, niche advertising and other products as they are offered.
  • Organize and prioritize workflow to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Monitor account spending and implement schedules for each contract to ensure contract commitments are achieved while leveraging the multiple products of The Post and Courier
  • Project and forecast revenue for each account prior to and during monthly sales periods
  • Effectively communicate with manager, ad operations and online creative to ensure customers' expectations are met/exceeded
  • Consistent CRM activity and adherence to Standards of Excellence (sales activity)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements, minimum education level, and experience:

  • College degree or equivalent sales experience required.
  • Staffing or recruitment advertising sales experience is a plus
  • Must have a proven track record of excellence in sales/support.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to develop relationships with clients in person and via the phone.
  • Strong ability to generate, prioritize and follow-up on leads.
  • Strong planning and problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to interpret and utilize research to strategize, develop and support solution-based programs for customers.
  • Ability to overcome objections in person and via the phone or in written communications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to present research and proposals clearly in person and via the phone.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, as well as basic math skills.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure of multiple deadlines and assignments.
  • Good spelling and grammar skills.
  • Ability to gain working knowledge of Advertising systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Dependable transportation and a valid South Carolina driver's license and proof of insurance are required.
