Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Outpatient Physical Therapist (PT) for a 13-week contract assignment in Juneau, Alaska.
This role is ideal for a licensed Physical Therapist with hands-on pediatric experience who is comfortable evaluating and treating children with developmental, neurological, orthopedic, mobility, balance, and functional limitations.
Candidates must hold an active Alaska Physical Therapist license, have current BLS certification, and possess pediatric Physical Therapy experience. The requisition also calls for at least 1 year of outpatient rehabilitation experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate pediatric patients with developmental, neurological, orthopedic, and mobility-related conditions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, functional limitations, and patient goals.
• Provide therapeutic exercise, gait training, balance training, neuromuscular re-education, and functional mobility interventions.
• Assess strength, range of motion, posture, coordination, balance, endurance, and gross motor development.
• Provide age-appropriate treatment to improve mobility, independence, and functional participation.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
• Educate parents and caregivers regarding home exercise programs, positioning, mobility strategies, and developmental goals.
• Recommend appropriate assistive devices, adaptive equipment, or mobility supports when needed.
• Collaborate with physicians, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, educators, and other members of the care team.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Follow patient-safety, infection-control, and rehabilitation standards.
• Manage an assigned outpatient caseload efficiently while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have:
Active Alaska Physical Therapist license
• Pediatric Physical Therapy experience
• Minimum 1 year of outpatient rehabilitation experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Valid driver's license
• Strong pediatric assessment and treatment-planning skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Strong communication and documentation skills
Education Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following educational pathways:
• Entry-level Master's or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
OR
• Graduation from an APTA-approved Physical Therapy program at the bachelor's or master's level, along with sufficient professional experience and continuing education to meet applicable licensure requirements
Pediatric Clinical Experience
Strong candidates should be comfortable treating children with needs related to:
• Developmental delay
• Gross motor delay
• Neuromuscular conditions

Schedule Requirements
Flexible schedule

Additional Requirements
• Influenza vaccination is required unless an approved exemption is permitted under facility policy.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• All required licensure and certifications must remain current throughout the assignment.
