Job description

AMT is growing and is seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our growing Transportation team of design professionals in our Richmond, VA office. Position will start in May 2026 upon graduation.
 
This is an excellent opportunity to work on challenging projects, develop your career, and seek advancement as a Transportation Engineer. In addition to supporting projects in their assigned office, the candidate may be involved with other AMT offices and project opportunities.
 
We provide an Excellent Work / Life Balance and an opportunity to work a Hybrid (Combination of Office and Remote) schedule..
Responsibilities
  • Support a variety of projects which may involve collection of data, existing condition and alternative analysis evaluation for engineering reports
  • Development of horizontal and vertical alignments, performing cross-section and super-elevation design, roadway modeling, development of transportation infrastructure plans, computing quantity takeoffs
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Engineering-in-Training Certification (or ability to obtain in 6-12 months) required
  • Prior internship or work experience preferred, experience with Municipal or State/US Department of Transportation projects a plus
  • Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil3D and/or Bentley Microstation/InRoads or Open Roads is preferred
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction surveying concepts preferred
  • Experience with MS Office products including Word and Excel
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
