About Aerospace Sector
Quartus is a key contributor to aerospace advancements, specializing in engineering simulation and custom hardware. We've played a vital role in a diverse range of optical systems, launch vehicle and spacecraft projects involving design, analysis, testing, and hardware assembly and integration. Our aerospace sector expertise also includes aircraft structural design, analysis, and testing, including support for FAA certifications. Quartus excels in commercial and defense aircraft applications, as well as custom optical systems and prototypes for space-based mechanisms, including on-orbit servicing.
What will you do?
As a Structural Analysis Engineer I, you will perform analysis-driven design through building structural and thermal simulations, performing optimization and redesign, correlating simulations to match testing, and delivering results to our customers. We perform analysis and testing of a wide variety of linear and non-linear systems ranging from aircraft and spacecraft to optical systems. You will gain exposure to an array of leading commercial simulation software such as NASTRAN, Abaqus, ANSYS, Hypermesh, and FEMAP.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Generate finite element models (FEMs)
  • Verify that parts and systems are adequately designed for requirements and environments
  • Assist in redesign and optimization of areas not meeting load & environment requirements
  • Generate custom codes to speed, improve, or expand analysis workflow and capabilities
  • Perform pre-test analyses and model correlation
  • Present findings and recommendations to the project team, company or customer
  • Support test plan development and execution of feasibility studies
  • Document work using Microsoft Word or PowerPoint

Location
Position is based in Herndon, VA with a hybrid schedule.*
*The hybrid work arrangement is subject to change based on business needs including but not limited to training, performance, or other operational requirements. Any physical location change may impact future employment.
What are we looking for?
  • BS or MS (typically in mechanical, aerospace, structural, or similar engineering field)
  • Some training in finite element analysis (FEA)
  • US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident)
  • Preferred - experience with FEMAP, Hypermesh, NASTRAN, Abaqus, ANSYS, MATLAB, Python
  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident)

Compensation and Benefits
Engineer I pay range: $66,071 - $107,960*
*This range represents base pay. In addition, you may be eligible for additional benefits and compensation.
