Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position starts as a Mine Laborer during training and is then promoted to Haul Truck Driver once training is completed. The Entry level position for a Heavy Truck Driver is Mine Laborer- this position is considered a Laborer position within the Mine department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Operate water trucks.
  • Operate haulage ore bearing trucks and haul to waste dumps.
  • Physically pull electric power cables.
  • Physically assist in installing pumps.
  • Work rotating shifts and rotating days off.
  • Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to climb 2-3ft cable swing ladder to get into haul trucks.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods.
  • Squatting, lifting, sweeping, shoveling, moving (pulling) 4160 electrical cable weighing approx. 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions/ environments: rain, wind, heat- humidity, muddy, dusty, uneven-rocky terrain.

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prior heavy equipment & Mining operations experience preferred.

Health & Safety
  • The job requires training or instruction in the area of environmental Awareness.
  • This job requires training or instruction in the area of Safety & Health awareness including completion of the appropriate OSHA and/or MSHA training.
  • Steel toe Boots

Note: pursuant to manufacturer specifications, the weight limit for the haul truck seat cannot exceed 320 pounds."
