Job Overview:

Atlas Fibre, located in Northbrook, IL, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Design & Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team. Responsibilities:

• Create detailed models and/or drawings for NPI and production parts using CAD software.

• Generate and maintain engineering documentation to support fabrication and manufacturing processes.

• Analyze part specifications and determine feasibility of design concepts.

• Support development of custom fixtures for internal use.

• Apply basic knowledge of GD&T and engineering standards in all design work.

• Work in a fast-paced environment with high-mix, low-volume production.

• Develop efficient CNC programs for complex parts, ensuring optimal machining strategies and processes for superior final products.

• Foster a positive team environment by effectively communicating with operators, engineers, and team members, while collectively addressing challenges and optimizing processes.

• Troubleshoot in-process manufacturing and part design issues to optimize manufacturability and reduce costs.

Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) preferred, or equivalent experience

• 1 - 3 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering-related role

• Proficient with Google, Microsoft Office, or related software suite

• Experience in engineering software (e.g., SolidWorks, MasterCAM, or OnShape)

• Basic understanding of CNC machining and fabrication processes

• Familiarity with GD&T and standard engineering practices

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on manufacturing setting

• Strong collaborator with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to cooperate with cross-functional teams.
