Job description

Position Summary and Responsibilities:
The Fleet Shop trainee position is an entry level position that is designed to educate/train the employee in all aspects of fleet shop operations. The duties could include washing and moving equipment, tire changing, fueling, lubrication, minor repairs, trouble shooting and road calls. The trainee will learn to maintain a written record of repairs performed and will be required to adhere to Federal Motor Carrier Guidelines.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Must have or be willing to purchase basic tools required to perform minor repairs.
• Must have the ability and willingness to learn troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Must have a working knowledge of brake systems both air and hydraulic and must be willing to perform all repairs with guidance.
• Must be willing to acquire a basic understanding of diesel engines and must be willing to perform all diesel repairs when required.
• Must be able to communicate with supervisors and shop associates.
• Material handling equipment experience is a plus since a forklift is used on occasion.
• Must be able to follow instructions and be a self-starter.
• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a willingness to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL).
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Shift 1: Sunday-Tuesday 7pm-7am

             Wednesday 7pm-1am

             Off Thursday - Saturday

Shift 2: Wednesday 1am-7pm

             Thursday-Saturday: 7:00pm-7am

             Off Sunday-Tuesday

Physical Requirements:
• Must be willing to work odd hours and shift work (days).
• Must be able to walk extensively
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time usually for 8-10 hours
• Must be able to bend at the waist; stoop to reach and squat to lift heavy items in a proper manner and operate lift assisting devices.
• Must be able to lift 30-60 lbs repetitively and heavier items weighing up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrist, hands, feet and legs.
