Job description

Salary:

We are seeking an entry-level Drafter who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and takes pride in transforming technical measurements into accurate, build-ready drawings. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented drafter with AutoCAD and/or similar program experience who enjoys problem-solving, collaborating with production and site teams, and seeing their designs come to life in-person on landmark projects.


The incumbent for this role will work 100% in-person within an office/fabrication environment in Edmonton, AB. We may also consider candidates based in Calgary, AB for remote work, with some travel to Edmonton, AB.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft standard railing drawings with minimal supervision, following established company standards and design templates.
  • Interpret site measurements and translate them into accurate shop drawings.
  • Review and interpret IFC/IFT drawings, specifications, and architectural details to produce preliminary drawings for assigned projects.
  • Prepare and issue RFIs (Requests for Information) to Project Management for design clarification or site condition conflicts.
  • Generate fabrication drawings and documentation for shop production, ensuring all details and part lists are complete.
  • Design simple sheet metal assemblies and flat patterns in AutoCAD.
  • Utilize other drafting software such as SolidWorks and REVIT as required.
  • Issue pipe bending programs and required fabrication data to shop staff.
  • Support development of advanced aluminum and steel railing systems under the guidance of senior designers or engineers.
  • Communicate proactively with shop personnel, providing clarification or technical support when required.
  • Issue glass and material takeoff regarding hardware and parts for assigned projects.
  • Design railing fasteners and anchoring systems using internal standards or with support from Engineering team.
  • Assist in the design of simple load-bearing or architectural aluminum structures under supervision.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date design files, drawings, and project data in Wrike and shared servers.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or certification in Architectural Technology, Mechanical Design, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2+ years of drafting experience within manufacturing, metal fabrication, or construction environments.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); familiarity with Revit, SolidWorks, or Inventor is considered an asset.
  • Experience in a shop/production or vehicle manufacturing environment considered a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication principles, materials (aluminum, steel, glass), and assembly methods.
  • Ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings, codes, and site conditions.
  • Strong organizational and file management skills within a collaborative, multi-project setting.
  • Detail-oriented, methodical, and capable of balancing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort liaising with project managers, engineers, and shop staff.
