EDUCATION:
Minimum of HS Diploma or GED is required
Bachelor's in Science, Chemistry or Biology degree is preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Level entry job
Previous experience in assembly type work, landscaping, and/or Interest in plants/greenhouse/nursery is helpful to be successful in this position.
NOTE: The environment can be very hot. Candidates must pay attention to detail and be able to stand for long periods of time. This position is an important role at our site. You will be working in a team setting but also independently.
Responsibilities:
Greenhouse Technician, Plant Sampling & Maintenance Work Environment: Greenhouse and Headhouse Duties: The incumbent will work inside/outside the greenhouse and headhouse to support the trait Introgression and initiatives by performing the following duties:
โ€ข Sampling genetically engineered plant tissue for DNA and Protein testing in search of desired traits.
โ€ข Planting engineered cotton seeds and maintaining suitable conditions for proper growth.
โ€ข Preparing buffer solution to extract protein from cotton leaf.
โ€ข Assisting in plant selection, transplanting, plant placement, and plant care.
โ€ข Candidates must work very well with others, pay attention to detail, and be able to stand for long periods of time.
Greenhouse work will include, but not be limited to:
water monitoring, cleaning, hanging harvest bags and harvesting, fertilizing, pruning, crossing, re-clipping and stringing plants, cleaning and trashing.
