Job description

This role is an entry-level Windows System Administrator in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment who maintains and secures Windows servers and workstations, manages Active Directory, applies Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and performs basic troubleshooting. This role supports day-to-day operations, system maintenance, and user administration within a secure military or contractor IT infrastructure. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to ensure operational readiness, system availability, and strict adherence to federal compliance standards.
This role is responsible for administering, maintaining, and securing enterprise IT systems that support mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) operations. The ideal candidate brings a proactive approach to system reliability, cybersecurity compliance, and end-user support in a dynamic operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems, including workstations, file servers, and web servers.
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls in accordance with DoD security requirements.
  • Perform system upgrades, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to network connectivity, system functionality, and cybersecurity incidents.
  • Implement and manage security tools such as firewalls, antivirus solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Ensure system configurations remain compliant with DoD cybersecurity policies and Cyber Workforce (CWF) requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and update system documentation, standard operating procedures, and user guides.
  • Provide responsive, customer-focused technical support and training to end users.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational and project-based IT initiatives.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • 1-3 years of experience working with Active Directory in an IT organization
