Job description

We're Hiring: Install and Service Technician I

Syracuse, NY (and regional job sites) | Full-Time

Are you ready to launch your career in the low voltage security industry? At IK Systems, we're looking for an Install and Service Technician I to join our growing team. This entry-level role is the perfect way to gain hands-on experience with integrated security systems - including surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and structured cabling.

You'll work directly alongside experienced technicians and project foremen, learning best practices while building the foundation for a long-term career. If you're mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to grow, this role offers the training, mentorship, and opportunity to advance to Technician II and beyond.

What You'll Do
  • Install and service low-voltage cabling, data racks, cameras, access control hardware, and alarm devices

  • Perform cable terminations, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting under supervision

  • Learn how to read and apply manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams in real-world settings

  • Assist senior technicians on projects at commercial client sites

  • Maintain accurate daily work logs and jobsite documentation

  • Follow OSHA regulations and company safety protocols to ensure safe, efficient installations

What You Bring
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training a plus)

  • Valid Driver's License required

  • Basic understanding of wiring, hand tools, and mechanical concepts

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn through on-the-job training

  • OSHA 10 certification a plus (not required)

  • Ability to travel regionally depending on assignments
