Job Summary

We are seeking motivated entry level attorney to fight on behalf of injured and exploited international workers who suffer from psychological and physical injuries after working in active war zones.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a case load of roughly 170 cases that are in litigation:
    • Organizing and overseeing all aspects of assigned cases, from initial pleadings through trial.
    • Developing and implementing case strategies in consultation with senior attorneys or partners.
    • Ensuring compliance with deadlines and procedural rules.
    • Maintaining accurate and organized case files.
    • Tracking billable hours and ensuring that time is recorded accurately.
    • Handling correspondence and communications related to cases.
  • Legal Research and Writing:
    • Conducting thorough legal research on relevant case law, statutes, and regulations.
    • Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
    • Preparing detailed memoranda and legal opinions for senior attorneys or clients.
  • Client Interaction:
    • Communicating with clients to ensure they are receiving medical care and benefits.
  • Discovery Process:
    • Managing the discovery process, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
    • Reviewing and organizing documents produced in discovery.
    • Preparing witnesses for depositions and conducting depositions under the supervision of a senior attorney.
  • Court Appearances:
    • Representing clients in court for motions, hearings, and, trials.
    • Presenting arguments, examining witnesses, and making procedural and substantive motions.
  • Trial Preparation:
    • Handling trial preparation, including drafting pre-trial motions, preparing trial exhibits, and organizing evidence.
    • Coordinating with experts, witnesses, and other parties involved in the trial.

Job Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • J.D. from ABA accredited law school;
  • Bar Member in good standing of any jurisdiction in the U.S.
  • Superb research and legal writing skills;
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in use of Westlaw/Lexis and other online legal search tools;
  • Demonstrated interest in federal law, international law, civil litigation, and helping exploited workers;
  • Ability to work remotely; and
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
