Job description

Job Title: Entry-Level Production Operator

Job Description

This entry-level role focuses on safely operating drum and tote filling equipment in an industrial plant and warehouse environment. You will handle containers, support quality control processes, perform minor maintenance, and contribute to efficient daily operations while working closely with a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate drum and tote filling equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Select and roll the correct drums onto conveyors to meet specific filling requirements.
  • Stencil and label containers according to customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect empty containers to ensure they meet quality and safety standards before filling.
  • Add dye to drums as required and support drum and tote shipping activities.
  • Pull full drums from the line and place them in the proper storage or staging locations.
  • Repackage drums as needed to meet customer, safety, or operational requirements.
  • Pump drums to flush tanks and support related production processes.
  • Maintain customer requirements for quality control by following established standards and documenting results.
  • Perform daily inspections of pipelines and valves to identify and report any issues.
  • Carry out minor maintenance activities on equipment as directed.
  • Execute operating orders, work orders, and other associated documents accurately and on time.
  • Communicate and work effectively with coworkers, contractors, and supervisors to accomplish work tasks.
  • Identify issues, problem solve, and troubleshoot operational challenges as they arise.
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times in accordance with safety policies.
  • Perform daily housekeeping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Assist with moving drums using appropriate equipment such as conveyors and forklifts.
  • Support inventory activities by tracking, counting, and organizing materials and products.
  • Perform other related duties as directed to support plant production, warehouse operations, and filling processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), or ability and willingness to obtain one.
  • Interest in cross-training across multiple plant production, warehouse, and filling roles.
  • Comfort working in an oil and gas terminal or industrial plant environment.
  • Strong attention to detail when labeling, inspecting, and handling drums and totes.
  • Willingness to perform minor maintenance tasks and learn basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Motivation to work overtime when available, including occasional Saturdays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of GEISMAR, LA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
