What You'll Be Doing

The Project Finance Associate supports Stifel Bank's Project Finance group. The role operates within a developing platform and works closely with internal partners across Venture, Fund, and Investment Banking. The Associate contributes across all phases of project finance transactions, including financial and commercial due diligence, modeling and analysis, transaction structuring and execution, and ongoing portfolio oversight. The position involves regular interaction with senior stakeholders and plays a role in supporting the growth and evolution of the Project Finance platform. The role requires strong technical project finance skills, sound analytical judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams. Success in the position depends on initiative, adaptability, and a relationship-driven approach in a dynamic and developing business area.

What We're Looking For
  • Support the development and expansion of the Project Finance platform; progress through a defined development path aligned with platform growth.
  • Work across a range of infrastructure asset classes, including emerging sectors.
  • Operate in a high-visibility role with frequent senior-level interaction.
  • Support MDs, Directors, and VPs on the Project Finance team in the origination, structuring, underwriting and portfolio management of financing solutions.
  • Prepare marketing materials for pitches and presentations for new financing opportunities.
  • Conduct detailed analysis and due diligence for new opportunities in the US.
  • Review and provide red flag analysis of market studies, engineering reports, financial models, financial statements, project contracts, and legal analysis.
  • Prepare high quality credit approval materials and memoranda for review by leadership team and risk committees.
  • Oversee and manage internal processes required for compliance and execution including onboarding of clients/borrowers, KYC, profitability analysis, committee approvals and minutes, deal logistics internally and externally, closing checklist and booking.
  • Support the management and monitoring of closed deals from a business and compliance perspective.
  • Stay actively engaged in the project finance market, maintaining awareness of live transactions, market terms and sector trends.
What You'll Bring
  • Strong experience developing project finance models in Excel and overall quantitative skills in financial analysis and credit risk analysis.
  • Successful track record of working collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment, strong communication and writing skills, and individual accountability.
  • Highly passionate about the next evolution of emerging infrastructure.
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills, including experience reviewing projectlevel financial models, financial statements, and sensitivity analyses.
  • Familiarity with internal credit processes, risk management frameworks, and regulatory or compliance requirements, including KYC, client onboarding, and approval workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and internal processes simultaneously, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to execution and compliance standards.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree in finance, economics, engineering, accounting or another related field.
  • Minimum Required: 2+ years of commercial banking, investment banking, or private capital investing experience preferably with direct project finance experience.
  • Preferred: Experience with project finance transactions in power, energy and transportation infrastructure in the US.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Compensation RangeSalary: USD $100,000.00/Yr. - USD $130,000.00/Yr. Actual salaries may vary, and may be based on several factors, including but not limited to each candidate's qualifications, skills, and overall competencies for the position. The base salary is one component of Stifel's overall compensation package for each individual employee.
