Job Description

As a member of the Global Cutting Engineering team, the Process Engineer will be responsible to assess and organize data received from sales, process customer CAD drawings into internal standard format, adapt to changes in materials, standards and new technologies, and assess nesting utilization studies to provide costing simulations back to the sales team.  Process Engineers must be able to interpret customer technical and appearance standards and develop internal process controls to align with the customer requirement.  Process Engineers will be required to further support launch activities with the production facilities to provide solutions and strategies to maximize cutting profits.

Responsibilities
  • Drive improvements in documentation and process controls by working cross-functionally with internal team members in global locations.
  • Interpret leather and seating standards including Natural Marking Limits (NML's) and tolerances.
  • Attend product reviews to continually learn about leather manufacturing processes including secondary value add processes
  • Interpret customer Drawings, BOM and specifications, then release drawings into an internal format.
  • Prepare and create production solutions / strategies for the plants.
  • Complete costing simulations for quotations, calculate and understand material fallout, quote models, material utilizations and actual production reports.
  • Import, set-up, and run utilization studies on CNC software.
  • Maintain and develop multiple Engineering Database systems including overall Price Analysis system and Engineering folders.
  • Track and interpret leather cutting performance
  • Support and lead VA/VE activities
  • Travel to other plant locations to support and evaluate cutting. 
  • Through the support of the Lear Leather Division Cutting Plant Operations and Global Cutting Engineering department, the candidate will have exposure to multi-functional global leadership teams.
Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Engineering Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD, CNC Software)
Bonus If You Have
  • Work experience as Trim Engineer or Pattern Designer
  • Previous Leather Manufacturing Experience
