Job description

Project Finance provides clients with a broad range offinancial advisory and debt structuring for large-scale, infrastructure projects.The team works across several asset classes including LNG, renewables, storage, hydro, transmission, data centers, thermal power, greenfield and acquisition financing. The team is integrated with Investment Banking and Mizuho's Project Finance platform is a global business which is consistently ranked as a top-tier global Project Finance franchise.

Summary:

  • Play a critical role in structuring, originating and executing project finance transactions in the Natural Resources and Power & Infrastructure sectors
  • Develop relationships with top-tier and emerging developers active in the Natural Resources and Power & Infrastructure space
  • Play a critical role in marketing for new business origination
  • Work closely with internal partners across Capital Markets, including Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Financial Sponsors, Rates / Derivatives, Risk, etc.
  • Liaise with Project Finance colleagues around the world

Duties and Responsibilities:

The role will involve: establishing a foundation in natural resources, renewables, energy transition and power markets, preparation of marketing materials and proposals, deal origination, attending bank meetings, pitching for mandates, reviewing and negotiating legal documentation with clients, structuring transactions, research work, analysis of existing or potential transactions and/or industries, analyzing various transaction risks and preparing credit applications and the development of cash flow models.

General:

  • Work in partnership with Investment Banking and the Financial Sponsors Group to originate new project finance opportunities, comprised of advising and lending
  • Prepare credit applications and other documents to obtain internal approval to finance Natural Resources and Power & Infrastructure project finance transactions
  • Perform the necessary research and analytics (including financial statement analysis and cash flow modeling) required for deal execution
  • Perform execution of arranger, agent and Financial Advisory work
  • Cross-sell other Mizuho financial services, including, but not limited to: Deposits, Derivatives, debt capital markets products and others

Administrative:

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the group's overall business plan
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader to establish a business strategy for Natural Resources and Power & Infrastructure client accounts
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Requirements may include:

  • BS, MS or LLM degree with a strong quantitative background, or other relevant work experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in Project Finance
  • 1 year of credit experience
  • Foundation in financial modeling
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

The expected base salary ranges from $110K - $130k. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
