Entry Level Inbound Sales Development Representative information

What is an entry level inbound sales development representative?

An Entry Level Inbound Sales Development Representative (SDR) is a professional who handles incoming leads and inquiries from potential customers, qualifying them for the sales team. Their main responsibility is to engage with prospects who have shown interest in the company's products or services, understand their needs, and determine if they're a good fit. The SDR then schedules appointments or passes qualified leads to more senior sales representatives for further engagement. This role is often a starting point for a career in sales, providing valuable experience in customer communication and lead management.

What does a typical day look like for an entry level inbound sales development representative?

As an Entry Level Inbound Sales Development Representative, your day typically involves responding to incoming leads, qualifying prospects through phone calls or emails, and scheduling meetings for senior sales team members. You'll collaborate closely with marketing to understand lead sources and with account executives to ensure seamless hand-offs. While the pace can be fast and metrics-driven, this role offers a supportive environment where you'll receive training and feedback, making it a great starting point for a career in sales.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level inbound sales development representative?

To thrive as an Entry Level Inbound Sales Development Representative, you need strong communication skills, a customer-focused mindset, and a basic understanding of sales principles, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) tools like Salesforce and proficiency in using email and phone systems are typically required. Active listening, resilience, and a positive, goal-oriented attitude help candidates excel in building rapport and overcoming objections. These skills and qualities are vital for effectively qualifying leads, nurturing customer relationships, and achieving sales targets.

What is the difference between Entry Level Inbound Sales Development Representative vs Entry Level Outbound Sales Development Representative?

Build Your Career in Sales. Grow Your Income. Make an Impact.
Multiple Sales Opportunities | SURREY, BC
Williams Machinery is growing, and we're looking for motivated sales professionals at different stages of their careers. Whether you want to build your own territory, grow rental revenue, develop customer accounts, or launch your career in inside sales, we have an opportunity for you.
FOUR SALES OPPORTUNITIES. ONE GREAT TEAM.
Equipment Sales Representative – JCB Division
Build and own your territory by prospecting for new business, developing customer relationships, conducting equipment demonstrations, and closing equipment sales and rental opportunities across construction, industrial, and related industries.
Rental Sales Representative - WeRent
Grow rental revenue by prospecting local job sites, developing repeat B2B rental accounts, and matching customers with the right equipment and fleet solutions. Own your territory, plan your customer visits, and build your book of business.
Service Sales Representative – Operations
Get out in the field, visit customer jobsites, identify opportunities for equipment, parts, and service, and work closely with our parts and service teams to help customers keep their equipment running. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys equipment and wants to build a career in sales.
Equipment Sales Representative – Inside Sales
Start your sales career in a structured environment with extensive coaching and mentorship. Qualify inbound leads, prospect new business, identify customer needs, and prepare proposals and quotations across our equipment, parts, and service offerings—with a clear path toward outside or territory sales.
WHY THIS IS A STRONG MOVE FOR YOU
  • Uncapped Earning Potential: Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission, giving you the opportunity to directly influence your income through your performance.
  • Build Your Career: Whether you're starting in inside sales or ready to own a territory, you'll have opportunities to learn, grow, and advance within a growing organization.
  • Training & Mentorship: Gain product knowledge, sales training, CRM experience, and coaching from experienced sales leaders.
  • Make It Your Own: Our outside sales roles give you the freedom to manage your territory, plan customer visits, prospect for new business, and build lasting relationships.
  • Industry Expertise: Learn the equipment, understand customer operations, and become a trusted partner to businesses across BC.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT HERE
  • Build the Pipeline: Prospect for new business, qualify leads, follow up on opportunities, and develop a strong book of customers.
  • Sell Solutions: Understand customer needs and recommend the right equipment, rental, parts, and service solutions.
  • Build Relationships: Develop long-term B2B relationships and become a trusted resource for your customers.
  • Win the Business: Prepare proposals and quotations, conduct equipment demonstrations, negotiate, and close opportunities.
  • Keep Learning: Develop your knowledge of equipment, customer applications, and the industries we serve.

WHAT WE OFFER
  • Compensation: Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission, with earning potential of $70,000–$120,000+ in applicable sales roles.
  • Company Vehicle: Provided for eligible territory-based sales roles.
  • Wellness: 100% premium-paid health benefits, $200 HSA, and $200 Lifestyle Spending Account.
  • Savings: 3% RRSP matching.
  • Vacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation.
  • Training: Sales training, product coaching, CRM onboarding, and opportunities to learn from experienced sales leaders.
  • Career Growth: Long-term career opportunities with a growing industry leader.
  • Rewards: Employee referral program, recognition programs, and opportunities to participate in our broader employee rewards initiatives.
