Summary/Objectives

The Sales Development Representative (SDR) is responsible for generating new sales opportunities through daily prospecting and outreach within an assigned territory. This role partners closely with Account Executives (AEs) and Specialists to build pipeline, schedule qualified meetings, and support revenue growth. The SDR will consistently meet or exceed defined activity, pipeline, and sales objectives while learning and executing RJ Young’s five-step sales process and demonstrating product and solution knowledge.

This position serves as a foundational sales role with a defined growth path into outside sales or specialist roles based on performance.

Essential Functions

·        Identify, research, and qualify potential customers through outbound prospecting (email, social media, cold calls, etc…)

·        Respond to inbound leads

·        Schedule meetings and product demos for Account Executives and Sales Managers

·        Consistently meet or exceed daily and monthly activity metrics

·        Follow established sales processes while continuously refining messaging and outreach strategies

·        Stay informed on product offerings in targeted industries

The Sales Development Representative will be required to develop knowledge and skills in the following solution areas:

Sales Performance

  • Meet or exceed monthly sales objectives as set by Sales Management
  • Maintain acceptable profitability standards
  • Demonstrate consistent activity levels aligned with growth expectations

  • Attend weekly branch sales meetings
  • Conduct weekly 1:1s with outside reps to align on prospecting targets
  • Dress professionally and appropriately for customer-facing environments
  • Communicate timely, professionally, and collaboratively with all departments

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This position requires frequent communication, standing, walking, and occasional lifting associated with customer meetings and equipment demonstrations.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Travel

Minimum travel required within assigned territory.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required
  • Basic computer proficiency required

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Prior sales or customer-facing experience preferred
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred
