Junior Staff Accountant
Direct Hire | Lombard, IL
Schedule: Onsite 5 days/week initially; hybrid flexibility available after training
Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 + discretionary bonus eligibility

About the Role
Our client is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to join their growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build upon their experience in reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities within the mortgage banking industry.
The Junior Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, assist with month-end close, and work closely with Senior Accounting team members on special projects and ad hoc requests.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage the accounting department inbox
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Assist with month-end close activities (5-day monthly close; approximately 9-day quarterly close)
  • Escalate non-routine accounting issues to appropriate team members
  • Support the Senior Accountant with ad hoc projects and reporting requests
  • Utilize accounting and reporting tools including:
    • Fiserv Prologue (ERP)
    • Encompass (Loan Operating System)
    • Excel
    • Power BI

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Bank reconciliations
    • Account reconciliations
    • Journal entries
  • Strong Excel skills, including:
    • Pivot Tables
    • VLOOKUPs
  • Mortgage industry experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Power BI
