Job description:

HVAC Technician

Location: Greenville, MI
Full-Time | $25–$40/hour, based on experience | Locally Owned & Operated

Are you an experienced HVAC Service Technician who believes customers deserve honest options — not high-pressure sales tactics?

At Russell Plumbing & Heating, we believe a great service technician does more than fix equipment. They diagnose the problem, educate the customer, and help them understand their options.

Sometimes a repair is the right choice. Other times, replacing an aging or unreliable system is the better long-term investment.

We expect our technicians to recognize those opportunities and confidently discuss repair, upgrade, and replacement options with customers. What we don't believe in is pushing unnecessary equipment or recommending replacement simply to make a sale.

Our goal is simple: give customers honest information and professional recommendations so they can make the best decision for their home, comfort, and budget.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on experience — $25–$40/hour
  • Company-provided service van
  • Fuel card
  • Company iPad and uniforms
  • Steady, year-round work
  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Paid holidays and paid time off
  • Simple Plan with company match
  • Local service area
  • Supportive office and dispatch team
  • Rotating on-call schedule
  • Customer-first approach — educate, provide options

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose, service, and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems
  • Troubleshoot furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and related equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and ensure systems are operating safely and efficiently
  • Clearly explain system issues and recommendations to customers
  • Present repair, upgrade, and replacement options when appropriate
  • Help customers understand the benefits and costs of their available options without using high-pressure sales tactics
  • Identify systems where replacement may be a better long-term solution than continued repairs
  • Maintain accurate job records using Housecall Pro
  • Keep your company vehicle and equipment organized and maintained

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of HVAC service experience preferred
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to confidently explain options and make professional recommendations
  • Commercial HVAC service experience is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule
  • Someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and doing what's right for the customer

Experienced HVAC installers are also encouraged to apply!

If you're a skilled installer who's interested in continuing to grow your HVAC career — including the opportunity to expand into service — we'd love to hear from you.

Already working somewhere but thinking it might be time for a change? We’d be happy to have a confidential conversation.

We believe the best sales come from earning the customer's trust — not from pressuring them into a decision.

If you're looking for a company where you can use your technical skills, make professional recommendations, and build long-term relationships with customers, we'd love to talk to you.
