AI can assist interior designers by automating tasks like space planning and generating design options, but it cannot fully replace the creativity, client interaction, and nuanced decision-making that interior designers provide. The 70/30 rule in interior design suggests that 70% of a space should be composed of neutral or subdued colors, while 30% can feature bold or accent elements. For entry-level hotel interior designers, applying this rule helps create balanced and inviting environments by combining calming backgrounds with focal points or decorative accents.

What does an entry level hotel interior designer do?

An entry level hotel interior designer assists in creating attractive, functional, and comfortable spaces within hotels. They often support senior designers by helping with design concepts, selecting materials and furnishings, preparing presentations, and coordinating with vendors. Their work may also involve site visits, drafting floor plans, and ensuring that designs align with the hotel's brand and guest experience goals. This role is ideal for recent graduates or those new to the field, as it provides hands-on experience in hospitality design while working as part of a collaborative team.

How do I become an interior designer with no experience?

Entry-level hotel interior designers can start by gaining foundational knowledge through online courses or certifications in interior design and learning industry-standard tools like AutoCAD or SketchUp. Building a portfolio with personal projects or internships helps demonstrate skills to potential employers, even without formal experience.

What types of projects and tasks can an entry level hotel interior designer expect to be assigned in their first year?
