The Community โ€“ Chillicothe, OH

Chillicothe is an Ohio city located on the Scioto River, just south of Columbus. This town was Ohio's first capital and the best way to explore is to check out its many state parks. It is the only location in Ohio with five different state parks and one national park. This just shows how beautiful the city of Chillicothe is!

The Facility โ€“ Ross Correctional Facility

Ross Correctional Institution is located in Chillicothe Ohio. It is a close custody correctional facility that houses mostly level 3 inmates. Additionally, this facility has one dorm that houses medium security offenders. Ross Correctional Institution has a maximum capacity of 2,578 inmates. This facility has an average rate of violence when compared to other close custody facilities in Ohio. Medical services at this facility are considered excellent as their is no backlog of medical requests. Ross Correctional Facility offers standard adult basic education and ability for an inmate to earn their GED. Vocational classes at this prison include carpentry, administrative office technology, and barbering. Some inmates will qualify for community service programs which include working with canines, working for Habitat for Humanity and wrapping holiday presents. Offenders can also participate in the Cognitive Behavior Therapy program which is a three month outpatient program that helps those with substance abuse issues, by counseling, educating, and emphasizing the importance of a life of sobriety.

Responsibilities

โ€ข Compiles health information (e.g., reviews, catalogs; checks medical reports for completeness; organizes medical reports for placement in files; reviews charts to ensure all reports signatures are present). โ€ข Types health information forms (e.g., prepares charts for new admissions; fills out forms; prepares requests for specific reports or certificates). โ€ข Compiles types statistical reports such as daily; monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, or length of stay. โ€ข Files reports into health information records, records information in logs; files; retrieves health information records in filing system. โ€ข Provides information from health information records after determining appropriateness of request. โ€ข Coordinates with other departments concerning health information records procedures.

Provider Characteristics

Knowledge of health information technology; JCAH; Medicare/Medicaid regulations governing medical record keeping requirements governing confidentiality of patient information*; medical terminology. Skill in use of typewriter ;/or word processor; calculator. Minimum Qualifications

3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in records management; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in medical terminology; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing. -Or equivalent of Minimum Qualifications for Employment noted above.
