We are in search of our next Junior Security Engineer. This role will support the delivery and continuous improvement of our cybersecurity solution and offerings while also assisting with cybersecurity product evaluations, internal security initiatives, and customer advisory services. This is a hybrid position located in Westlake, OH.


This role is customer-facing and hands-on. This position will participate in and lead technical discovery interviews, cybersecurity assessments, audits and advisory discussions, while also helping evaluate and test cybersecurity tools, controls, and platforms used both internally and by our customers. The ideal candidate is curious, organized, technically capable, and comfortable working directly with customers, engineers, and leadership.

What you’ll do:


Cybersecurity Solution Support and Delivery:

  • Participate in and help lead customer-facing discovery meetings, including Technical Discovery Interviews and Key Stakeholder Interviews.
  • Perform cybersecurity assessments and audits aligned to frameworks such as CIS Controls, NIST, and regulatory or audit requirements relevant to customers
  • Document findings, risks, gaps, and recommendations clearly and consistently within Copilot assessment workbooks and reporting tools
  • Support ongoing Copilot customer engagements, including follow-up meetings, QBR preparation, and remediation tracking

Customer Discovery & Advisory:

  • Conduct technical and operational discovery with customers to understand environments, tools, processes, and risks
  • Advise customers on cybersecurity best practices, control maturity, and practical improvement paths
  • Collaborate with engineers and leadership to align recommendations
  • Support audit-readiness and compliance discussions, including evidence gathering and control validation when required

Cybersecurity Product Evaluation & Testing:

  • Assist with evaluation, testing, and comparison of cybersecurity tools and platforms, including endpoint protection, MFA, vulnerability management, SIEM, backup, and network security tools
  • Document findings from product testing, including strengths, weaknesses, operational overhead, and customer fit
  • Support proof-of-concept activities and internal testing of new cybersecurity technologies and controls
  • Help maintain internal standards and reference architectures for recommended cybersecurity solutions

Internal Cybersecurity Support:

  • Assist with internal cybersecurity initiatives, including control validation, tool tuning, policy alignment, and process improvement
  • Support internal risk assessments and security reviews as needed
  • Contribute to internal documentation, standards, and playbooks used by the cybersecurity and engineering teams
  • Stay current on cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices, sharing relevant insights with the team

What we require:


Education:

  • Relevant certifications or progress toward them (Security+, SSCP, CISSP Associate, etc.)

Experience:

  • 1-3 years working as a cybersecurity professional, or relevant experience

Skills:

  • Experience with CIS Controls, NIST CSF, or similar frameworks
  • Exposure to K-12, municipal, or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 security tools (Entra ID, Defender, Purview, etc.)
  • Experience assisting with security tool evaluations or proof-of-concepts
  • Experience or strong interest in cybersecurity assessments, audits, or advisory work
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Comfort participating in customer-facing meetings and discussions
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • Abilityto work independently while collaborating closely with a team
