Job description

Job Title: Entry-Level Data Center Technician (Installation Support)Overview

We are seeking an Entry-Level Data Center Technician to support the buildout and installation of a new data center environment. This role is ideal for candidates with foundational IT knowledge or hands-on experience in cabling, helpdesk, or desktop support who are looking to grow their career in data center operations.

You will work alongside experienced technicians and engineers to install hardware, run cabling, and ensure infrastructure is set up according to design and operational standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the physical installation of servers, network devices, racks, and related hardware
  • Perform structured cabling tasks, including running, labeling, dressing, and testing copper and fiber cables
  • Support rack and stack activities, including mounting equipment and organizing cabling
  • Follow detailed installation plans, diagrams, and standard operating procedures
  • Conduct basic hardware checks and assist with system bring-up activities
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations and inventory
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and data center best practices
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors during deployment activities
  • Assist with troubleshooting basic connectivity or hardware issues

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0–2 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk, desktop support, or cabling/telecom work
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware and networking concepts
  • Ability to use hand tools and follow detailed instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optics)
  • Familiarity with data center environments or infrastructure
  • Knowledge of rack and stack processes
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications (or in progress)
  • Experience reading network diagrams or installation schematics

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable standing, bending, and working on ladders for extended periods
  • Ability to work in hot/cold aisle environments

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sparks, NV.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
