Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Digital Marketing Intern will support the measurement, analysis, and reporting of Bourns' website performance. Working within the Marketing Communications (MarCom) team, the intern will build and maintain Looker Studio dashboards that draw data from Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Search Console, Microsoft Webmaster Tools, and social media properties. The intern will also implement and manage event tracking in GA4 via Google Tag Manager, helping the team understand user behavior and identify opportunities to improve the Bourns.com experience.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:


Build and maintain Looker Studio reporting dashboards that visualize website performance data from GA4, Google Search Console, and Microsoft Webmaster Tools; design reports for multiple audiences, including marketing leadership and technical stakeholders.

Implement and manage event tracking in GA4 using Google Tag Manager; configure triggers and tags to capture user interactions such as clicks, form submissions, downloads, and page scroll depth.

Conduct ongoing analysis of website traffic, user behavior, and search performance data; identify trends, surface actionable findings, and present results in clear, structured reports.

Audit existing GA4 configurations for accuracy and completeness; document the current tracking setup and recommend improvements to ensure data reliability.

Support the development of a standardized web analytics reporting process, including report templates, data dictionaries, and documentation of metric definitions.

Collaborate with the MarCom team and web development stakeholders to align tracking implementation with website content structure and campaign goals.

Organize and maintain supporting data in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, including campaign performance tracking, data exports, and ad hoc analysis.

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Demonstrates initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with overlapping deadlines. Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical team members. Shows curiosity about digital marketing data and a willingness to learn new tools and workflows, including AI-assisted productivity tools from Microsoft.


 

COMMUNICATIONS: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with marketing team members, including discussing project status, presenting data findings, and asking clarifying questions about reporting requirements. Ability to document information clearly and accurately, including dashboard logic, event tracking configurations, metric definitions, and analytical summaries.

EDUCATION: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science and entering the junior or senior year of study.


EXPERIENCE:

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) - ability to navigate property structure, create explorations, and interpret key metrics, including sessions, engagement rate, conversion events, and traffic source breakdowns.

Google Tag Manager - ability to create and publish tags, triggers, and variables; experience configuring event tracking for common user interactions.

Looker Studio - ability to build reports using multiple data connectors, create calculated fields, and design charts and scorecards for non-technical audiences.

Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets - proficiency with data organization, filtering, pivot tables, and basic formulas used in marketing analysis.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Computer, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Google Workspace tools (Looker Studio, Google Sheets, Google Tag Manager, GA4), and internal digital tools for managing website analytics and marketing reporting.
