We are looking for experienced Assistant Horticulturist at our Golden Ocala Golf Club.

For golf enthusiasts, Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club boasts a riveting 27-hole championship course designed by golf course architect Ron Garl. The majestic course at Golden Ocala incorporates eleven masterfully recreated tribute holes from some of the world's finest golf courses including:

  • Augusta National Golf Club (Home of the Masters Tournament), Augusta, GA, USA
  • Royal Troon Golf Club, Scotland
  • Baltusrol Golf Club, Springfield, NJ, USA
  • Muirfield Village Golf Club, Scotland
  • St. Andrews Links, Scotland
  • Oakmont Country Club, Plum, PA
  • Bethpage State Park Golf Course - Black Course, Farmingdale, NY
  • Winged Foot Golf Club - West Course, Mamaroneck, NY

Golden Ocala boasts a refined landscape in the French provincial format with formal hedges, classic gardens and manicured lawns.ย  We are looking to add a team-oriented individual with a passion for beautiful landscaping, professional service and the golf country club atmosphere. This is a high expectation position with the focus on continuing to foster a team environment while enhancing conditions in and around the Club House, common areas, Gates, access areas and golf course beds. Our team concentrates our effort into creating a unique development plan to enhance each team member's skills and focus on work- life balance as a key component. The Assistant Horticulturist will work 40 hours per week and a few hours every other Saturday.

Our team consists of 14 landscapers, 8 floriculture technicians, 2 irrigation technicians, 1 spray technician and 4 trim technicians.ย

Experience Requirements:ย 

  • Must have a TEAM mentality.ย  The right candidate must have the willingness to grow and learn as well as having a desire to advance their career in the golf course horticulture industry.ย ย 
  • Must be self-motivated, lead by example, and have a strong attention to detail.ย ย 
  • This is an ideal position for a self-motivated individual with a positive attitude who thrives in a culture that encourages individuals to make decisions independently and learn how to use their time productively.ย ย 
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, and efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure.ย ย 
  • This position will be directly involved with creating and adapting the daily work schedule on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Must not be afraid to make mistakes and constantly learn.ย ย 
  • Supervises and participates in fertilizer and pesticide applications.ย  Must know how to operate and calibrate fertilizer and pesticide equipment.ย  Maintain application sheets and documents for inventory control.ย 
  • Must have extensive plant knowledge and considerable background in landscape and team management.
  • Degree in Horticulture or related field preferred, or 5-8 years relevant experience.
  • Florida Pesticide License preferred.
