Job description

Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Entarian is looking for an entry-level Engineering Technician I/II responsible for assisting senior technicians (Tech III-VI) with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ESS Systems (electronic security systems) To include, but not limited to, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Access Control (ACS), Intrusion Detection (IDS), and Public Annunciator (PA).

This role requires a basic understanding of CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection systems. Engineering Technician I/II follows instructions provided by experienced technicians and actively learns from them through both 'On-the-job-training' and formal training provided through on-boardingย and various System Certifications applicable to a project.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Engineering Technician I/II role is an entry-level position within the Electronic Security Systems team, offering individuals an opportunity to gain foundational experience in the field. This role plays a crucial part in assisting senior technicians with various tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic security systems.

Assist Senior Technicians:

  • Collaborate with senior technicians to support the installation of electronic security systems, including CCTV cameras, access control panels, and intrusion detection sensors.
  • Assist in the setup and configuration of security equipment according to project specifications.

Perform Maintenance Tasks:ย 

  • Aid in conducting routine maintenance activities on installed security systems to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
  • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting basic system issues, under the guidance of senior technicians.

Learn and Follow Instructions:ย 

  • Follow instructions provided by experienced technicians meticulously to ensure tasks are executed accurately and efficiently.
  • Actively observe and learn from senior technicians, seeking clarification when needed to enhance understanding.

Develop Basic Understanding:ย 

  • Develop a basic understanding of electronic security systems, including CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Familiarize oneself with the components, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation associated with these systems.

Quality Assurance:ย 

  • Pay close attention to detail to ensure that tasks are performed accurately and in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to maintaining high-quality workmanship by adhering to best practices and quality control measures.

Team Collaboration:ย 

  • Work collaboratively with team members to accomplish project objectives and deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to provide updates on task progress and seek assistance or guidance when needed.

$24/hr to $32/hr DOE

Minimum Qualifications
  • An active DoD Secret Clearance or successfully undergo a Background Investigation, and Drug Screen
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Travel up to 50% to CONUS and OCONUS locations may be required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of electronics or related fields
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate task execution
  • Eagerness to learn and commitment to maintaining quality workmanship
  • Basic understanding and experience with Basic Hand tools. (*S1T Does NOT Provide Basic Hand tools)
Desired Qualifications
  • Tower Climbing experience/certification
  • Forklift/ Boom operator experience/certification
  • Fiber Optic Certification(s)
  • Experienced with Navy Shore Platform Installation Handbook
  • Knowledge of Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) physical security system Access Control Enforcer (ACE) and its integration with ACS
  • Understanding of DMP systems
  • Manufacturer certifications if required (Avigilon, Axis, DMP, Lenel, AMAG, Honeywell, Galaxy, FLIR, and Pelco.)
  • Install, program and document ACS/IDS/CCTV equipment, cable conveyance, antennas and supporting systems
  • Communication/ Low Voltage Equipment rack and supporting system peripheral installations
  • Installation of overhead or under-floor infrastructure (Conduit, EMT, Schedule 40) and low voltage cabling
  • Proficiency in using basic tools and various low voltage testing equipment
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain a passport
