Job Summary:

The Financial Management Specialist I provides entry-level financial and budgetary support to Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) and its Directorates. Provides foundational support in managing financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance. Supports the development, monitoring, and analysis of departmental and organizational budgets. Responsible for assisting in financial planning, preparing budget reports, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in collecting and tracking funding, forecasting, and budget execution data in accordance with PPBE processes.
  • Maintain awareness of the status of approved, deferred, and released funds, ensuring proper documentation and audit trails.
  • Support the reconciliation of financial transactions and assist in identifying discrepancies.
  • Prepare draft reports, spreadsheets, and financial documentation for management review.
  • Assist in compiling obligation and expenditure data for periodic reporting.
  • Maintain financial records, databases, and filing systems to support audit readiness.
  • Prepare and assist in developing financial graphs, summaries, and charts for leadership briefings.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support for financial planning and execution activities.
  • Support data calls and reporting requirements as directed.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in financial administration, accounting, or budget analysis.
  • Basic understanding of the PPBE process and federal budget principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and data-entry skills.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active, SECRET Security Clearance is required.
