Job description

Talus Development LLC, A Primoris Company, is a full-service, telecommunications and utility contracting firm headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. We pride ourselves in promoting a culture that challenges and engages each of our employees.
We have 2 immediate openings for Fiber Technician 1 & II  at our office located in Phoenix, AZ.
Primary Responsibilities include: 
OSP Fiber Technician II,  Prepares and splices fiber optic cables needed to provide video and data services to homes and or apartments.  Follows predetermined activation instructions.  Performs end of line testing to ensure plant and light levels within customer specs.  May perform as-built functions upon job completions.  May perform ring and or high cap splicing within and on customer transport circuits.  Accountable to provide accurate as-built information and documents, including field changes approves by on-call designer. 
Requirements: 
  • Requires 2 years fiber optic splicing and troubleshooting experience
  • Must have a valid Arizona driver license and clean record
  • Must possess ability to problem solve
  • Proficiency with Excel and Adobe Acrobat
  • Requires ability to lift 70 lbs
  • Complete commitment to quality following industry and customer standards
  • Requires attention to detail while following specific documented instruction
  • Safely uses hand and small power tools
  • Ability to prep and install fiber cables into various enclosure types; includes new and existing
  • Fusion splice fibers within customer spec and parameters
  • Read and interpret splice details and complete as-built docs accordingly
  • Ability to troubleshoot down to element level based on traces and or testing results
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow NESC and other state and local safety conditions a must
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills required
  • Proficiency with EXFO 715 OTDR or newer version and interpret results
  • Performs testing of light levels with EXFO or similar power meter
  • Must be able to distinguish different color fiber jackets
  • Troubleshoots back to and including ODN
  • Assists with field training of Fiber Tech I
  • Successfully completes OLM activations and speed tests
  • Edits and updates customer required documentation; as-built docs
  • Provides leader with accurate and clear invoicing data
  • Experience working with loose tube, spider ribbon and other common cable types

Education:
  • High School diploma or GED
