Job description

The Groundskeeper III is an entry level position and is responsible for the care and maintenance of lawns, grounds and equipment to ensure the safe and aesthetically pleasing environment of all locations as deemed necessary in the course of business. Work may include the assistance with projects outside the usual scope of corporate grounds, but deemed projects of importance to management.

Essential Functions

• Maintain and care of lawns, shrubs, trees and plantings through mulching, aerating, pruning, weeding, grubbing, removal of thatch, trimming and edging of flower beds, walks, walls. This may include erection of seasonal security fencing.

• Maintenance of safety and grounds aesthetics such as: snow removal and proper sand/salt of areas, rake and disposal of leaves

• Proper usage and care of equipment at a project site

• Use of hand/ power equipment including: hand or automatic sprayers, spreaders, mowers, twin-axel vehicles, snow blowers, clippers, pruning saws, edgers, gardening tools

• Planting, securing/support of foliage, maintenance of irrigation systems (including winterizing and season preparation), application of topsoil, straw and mulch as directed by Grounds Manager or Director of Grounds

• Upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, refuse receptacles and other grounds features as directed

• Maintains a professional manner at all times

• Performs other job duties and projects, reasonably related to business, as requested by Director or senior staff

Competencies and Qualifications

• Current certification for OSHA 10 coursework is preferred.

• Knowledge of mowing and hand held lawn and garden equipment

• Reliability and positive work ethic

• Communication and organizational skills

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is preferred.

• Ability to take direction

• Strong team player
