Job description

Our Assistant Designer is an individual contributor responsible for assisting with the creation of commercially viable product designs across collections. This role coordinates and delivers brand-right designs that align with the overall concept and business strategy, encompassing style, color/print, fit, and fabric for new and existing product lines. The Assistant Designer applies a solid working knowledge of fashion trends and consumer needs to product designs. The ideal candidate demonstrates a passion for the brand, works collaboratively, and is able to take direction while developing their design skills and contributing to team goals.
  • Salary- $34k

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the design team in creating brand-right, commercial designs that reflect the conceptual direction and business strategy.
  • Deliver design sketches and prototypes and provide clear specifications for construction.
  • Build and maintain the sample room.
  • Create flat sketches and CAD images.
  • Prepare the design team for routine and milestone meetings, including coordinating line presentation boards/tableaus and selecting product samples.
  • Communicate ongoing development details to internal partners, including Production, Technical Design, and Merchandising, as well as vendors.
  • Partner with Technical Design on fit and execution of prototypes, assisting with scheduled fittings and necessary follow-up.
  • Track and organize development samples, ensuring they are delivered within required timelines and properly passed off to key partners.
  • Attend routine team meetings and key partner alignment sessions.
  • Adapt designs based on feedback and incorporate revisions through finalization.
  • Apply processes to understand and anticipate customer needs in order to exceed expectations and respond effectively.
  • Utilize internal and external resources to source new ideas and stay current on competitor research and trend analysis.
  • Communicate point of view clearly through mood boards and concept tears.
  • Achieve established goals with strong attention to detail by tracking progress and anticipating potential issues.
  • Pursue opportunities to grow professionally and develop design skills and competencies.
  • Develop an understanding of the brand identity and specific product category.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key partners.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and deliver work efficiently with speed and agility.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • Entry-level experience with some design experience in a comparable retail environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign; Centric experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional talent with a commercial fashion eye and strong attention to product styling and performance.
