Assistant Designer, Cut & Sew Knits

Experience Required: 0-2 years of relevant design experience, with a degree in Apparel or Fashion Design.

Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to support the Women's Cut & Sew Knits design team. This entry-level role is ideal for someone passionate about fashion, eager to learn, and excited to contribute to the creative process from concept through production. The Assistant Designer will play a key role in maintaining design integrity, supporting product development, and helping to bring seasonal collections to life.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Creative Support

  • Assist in the development of seasonal concepts, color stories, fabric, trim, and graphic direction.
  • Support the team with trend and market research, including seasonal color, material, silhouette, and styling inspiration.
  • Create and update professional presentation boards, including CAD sketches, illustrations, and fabric/trim swatches.
  • Prepare visual materials for internal meetings and milestone presentations.

Product Development

  • Maintain up-to-date tech packs, CADs, and linesheets in PLM and shared documents.
  • Help track and organize sample status, raw materials, and product development details.
  • Collaborate with Production to support design integrity through the development and bulk process.
  • Assist with lab dip approvals, fabric submits, and print strike-offs, providing feedback as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with cross-functional partners including Merchandising, Technical Design, and Production to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Participate in fittings and team reviews to support the product lifecycle from concept to final sample.
  • Help maintain the sample closet, raw materials library, and seasonal archives in an organized, accessible manner.

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of design experience, internship experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, or a related field.
  • Strong illustration and technical sketching ability (flat and fashion).
  • Excellent color sense, trend awareness, and an eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated creative ability and a strong portfolio showcasing design and CAD work.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; knowledge of PLM, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Previous experience in graphic design or knowledge of graphics development is a plus.
