General Summary

  • The Interface Systems Analyst is responsible for the functional analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of software application interfaces used at Phelps Health. This position includes working as the liaison between Phelps Health departments regarding application interface issues and application software vendors, all edits and errors associated with each interface, technical and application troubleshooting, and quality assurance and documentation. Collaborates closely with the Epic team when working with any Epic applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of the Applications and Interface Manager to daily monitor and maintain the functions of interfaces.
  • Acquires a working knowledge and understanding of healthcare organization third party applications and other healthcare information systems in order to evaluate the functioning of interfaces and applications with which they interface. Makes recommendations for change.
  • Assists with integration of applications with other applications. Monitors when system application upgrades are available and coordinates these upgrades to existing systems by working with leaders, Information Technology, application end users, and vendors to resolve issues associated with upgrades.
  • Collaborates with application end users and project management to identify interface requirements, map data elements, and perform interface configuration and data setup, and conduct testing and validation.
  • Manages and communicate technical timelines (e.g. design, build, testing) to the project management, executes task assignments within established timeframes, and complies with requirements for status reporting and documentation.
  • Manages multiple issues across multiple projects and works with management to understand priorities for resolution. Clearly documents necessary features to facilitate communication to other team members regarding interfaces.
  • Supports ongoing efforts to preserve accuracy and integrity of data. Recommends processes to protect critical data from loss, contingency plans for applications, and revisions to application recovery procedures.
  • Participates in Applications and Analytics departmental around the clock application support to resolve any problems occurring during or after normal working hours.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures defined in Phelps Health manuals. Complies with regulatory agency standards and Phelps Health quality assurance standards in providing application and interface support.
  • Participates in ongoing education concerning information technologies and their utilization in a health care environment.

Education

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.


Work Experience

  • Two years of experience in System Analysis in Healthcare setting. Leadership, mentoring, and project management experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of Windows operating systems, HL7 interface, SQL, Databases, Scripting and Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Word).

  • Epic Bridges Certification

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Considerable mental concentration required to complete largely variable duties. Applicant must be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with frequent interruptions. Standing, walking, and sitting required. Light lifting (25lbs/12kg) rarely required.


Working Conditions

  • Standard office conditions; well lighted, climate controlled area. Constant noise from fans and printers for extended periods. Will spend a great deal of time using computers with possible visual or muscular discomfort. Potential exposure to infectious diseases. Will occasionally be in patient care areas supporting end users.
