PSE's Customer Energy Mgmt & Renewables team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Energy Management Engineer I position!

Job Description

While working under direct supervision of more experienced staff, the duties of the Energy Management Engineer include performing all aspects of efficiency projects with business customers for several PSE energy efficiency programs under tariffed electric and gas conservation schedules.  Specific duties may include 1) Managing and implementing all phases of projects with customers from development through final installation verification, 2) management of specific programs and initiatives, and 3) oversight of outside contractors.  Assignments involve customer projects with some technical complexity.

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety. Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct.  Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

This job is considered “safety sensitive” as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides technical and project management functions to customer projects to produce sustainable energy savings by performing or overseeing energy audits of building energy systems including:
    • review of facility energy-usage patterns
    • detailed analyses of complex efficiency measures including energy use modeling
    • the applicability and recommendations of measures for achieving greater energy efficiency of measures to customer facilities and operations
    • final inspection of completed projects.
  • Provides exceptional customer service by managing customer expectations by clearly communicating status and next steps.
  • Implements projects and programs while ensuring compliance of all financial procedures; assists in the development of new and revised department policy proposals to increase effectiveness of programs and services.
  • Consults with others on technical, regulatory policy and financial analyses.
  • Monitors the development and market acceptability of new energy technologies.
  • Supports emergency response work as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, civil or other appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Entry level to 3 years of experience in engineering design, preparation of specifications, technical field work, or system studies. Other prior non-engineering work experience may be considered for individuals at this level.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated project and/or program management skills. 
  • Customer service experience.
  • Utility energy efficiency project experience.
  • Working towards CEM credentials.

The pay range for this position is $80,200.00 - $115,800.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
