Job description

JOB TITLE: Advanced NR-EMT or EMT-Intermediate

DEPARTMENT: Emergency Medical Services

REPORTS TO: Emergency Medical Services Director

JOB SUMMARY

The Advanced NREMT provides direct and indirect care through the Policies, Protocols, and Guidelines set by Cody Regional Health (CRH), Cody Regional Health Emergency Medical Services (CRH-EMS), and the State of Wyoming Office of EMS (OEMS). They are accountable for and provides care within the set standards of practice. The Advanced NREMT is a member of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team and must work with fire department personnel, law enforcement, first responders and other healthcare providers to deliver care to ill and injured patients in the out-of-hospital as well as hospital setting.

The EMT Intermediate (EMT-I) provides direct and indirect care through the Policies, Protocols, and Guidelines set by Cody Regional Health (CRH), Cody Regional Health Emergency Medical Services (CRH-EMS), and the State of Wyoming Office of EMS (OEMS); and is accountable for and provides care within the set standards of practice. The Emergency Medical Technician – Basic is a member of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team and must with Fire Department Personnel, Law Enforcement, and other healthcare providers to deliver care to ill and injured patients in the out-of-hospital as well as hospital setting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Currently licensed as a:

  • Wyoming Advanced NR-EMT
  • Or Wyoming Full Module EMT-Intermediate
  • Minimum age 21 years old

EXPERIENCE

  • EMS AEMT: None required, entry level position. Employee must show competency and skill proficiency at completion of orientation. Minimum age 21 years old.
  • EMS INTERMEDIATE: One year of prior experience as an EMT-Basic or Advanced NREMT or Intermediate.

SKILLS

  • Good driving skills are essential.
  • Must have ability to quickly and calmly react to life threatening situations.
  • Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people of different cultural backgrounds and educational levels.
  • Must possess a high degree of confidentiality of all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new computer software applications.
  • Ability to assess and treat patients to the US DOT and State of Wyoming OEMS EMT Advanced Level OR EMT-Intermediate Level.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • ADVANCED NREMT: BLS (AHA); Valid clean Wyoming Driver’s License.
  • EMT INTERMEDIATE: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA); PALS (AHA). Clean valid Wyoming Driver’s License.
